Jeff Pulver - February, 2006 @ NYU - 2006 MBA Media & Entertainment Conference

I am Chairman and Founder of pulver.com, and I am known as being one of the pioneers of the VoIP industry while also active in the worlds of Social Media and Internet TV. During the past 12 years I have become a globally thought leader, author, entrepreneur and investor. My blog is pretty well read within the Communications Industry and in high-tech communities around the world. I am creator of the Voice on the Net (VON) conferences, where just about all sectors of IP communications come together to discuss, debate, and advance the industry. Launched Video on the Net in 2006. Additionally, I am also the founder of FWD VON Coalition, and the co-founder of PrimeTimeRewind.tv and Vonage.

On February 12, 2004, my petition for clarification declaring Free World Dialup as an unregulated information service was granted by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This landmark decision by the FCC was the first decision it made on IP communications to date. Now referred to as "the Pulver Order", the ruling provides important clarification that computer-to-computer VoIP service is not a telecommunications service. By doing this, the FCC delivered a strong signal to consumers and capital markets that the FCC is not interested in subjecting end-to-end IP Communications services to traditional voice telecommunications regulation under the Communications Act.

My expertise is widely utilized throughout the communications and Internet industries, which has now extended into the critical public policy arena, both nationally and internationally. In addition to my work with the FCC (in the past), I have testified before the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the United States Congress, the National Association of Regulatory and Utility Commissioners (NARUC) as well as numerous federal and state agencies who have a growing interest in IP communications. Profiled in the Wall Street Journal in 2006. Named by BusinessWeek as one of their 2003 Tech Gurus. I am committed to the future of Communications and is featured often in the media as true expert in his field. He is a patron/supporter of the Diabetes Research Institute, Robin Hood, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Musuem, VH1 Save the Music, and is a lifetime member of the ARRL and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
