Hi all,
My name is Roy Klieger and I’m currently a product manager at Contigo Mobility Inc. I used to work for ICQ for over 8 years doing many different things around its growing community.
This is my first year here with Kinnernet and I’m very excited about the invitation. Heard lots of good things about the fascinating people coming every year with their crazy, wacky and geeky stuff! All I hope is that I can contribute to this amazing camp. Looking forward to meeting all of you creative & fun people!
Here are some of the things I like:
Biggest passion in life: Soccer (watching, not playing…) I’m a fanatic fan of Maccabi Tel Aviv F.C. and been following them on every game since I was a kid. You might recognize me from the soccer broadcasts on TV. I’m the only one in the crowd that look like a nerd and screams phrases you probably don’t even know (and torch some chairs once in a while when the referee pisses me off)
Favorite Athlete: Avi Nimni (a.k.a. 8 neshama)
Favorite food: All kinds of sea food
Favorite restaurants: Orka, Pastis, MeatBar, Stephan Brown and the pretzel salesman near Habima theatre
Favorite movies: “Do the right thing” by Spike Lee (actually all of his movies), “Clockwork Orange” and some less classic ones such as “Reservoir dogs”, “Get Shorty”, Old school”
Favorite movie star: Jenna Jameson
Near death experience: May 16th, 1999 15:43, called YV during his afternoon nap. 2 years later and after intense medicinal therapy I was back on my feet.
“Smartest” prediction I ever had: Mid 1996 while talking to a friend I said:” With all do respect, I don’t think this whole Internet thing is gonna stick”
2nd “smartest” prediction I ever had: End of 1996 while talking to the same friend (who at that point was already avoiding my calls) I said: Thanks for the offer dude but I can’t believe people will be ever interested in playing Poker over the Internet with other players for real money”. The friend currently lives in London after an Exit of 290mill$ and I’m back to therapy.
My most feared off person: (till not too long ago) Bill Gates
My 2nd most feared off person: (since not too long ago) Larry Page
Life changing experience: See “Near death experience”
Favorite quote: Mr. Garrison from South Park: “sorry guys but I just can’t trust anything that bleeds for 5 days and doesn’t die…”
Favorite comedians: Chris Rock, George Carlin, Denis Leary & Nancy Brandes
Favorite animal: Dogs, mostly Boxers. Had a female Boxer while growing up but she died because of a tumor in her lungs (Perhaps it wasn’t so smart to teach her how to smoke while she was a puppy…)
Defining moment in life: See “Life changing experience”
Most interested in: Communities and social networks phenomenon on the web. The world of social software and its effects on our social life is amazing to me and I dedicate a lot of my time to study and analyze it.
